IBM Cognos 8 Dimensional Reporting Workshop
Totalamber have been providing consultancy services to organisations that utilise Business Intelligence products such as Cognos for several years. Following a number of successful workshops this year aimed at sharing knowledge of value adding solutions for enterprise applications Totalamber are now holding a free ‘IBM Cognos 8 Dimensional Reporting Workshop’ at our head office in Knutsford, Cheshire on Wednesday 28th October 2009.
From our experience, although called Business Intelligence (BI), in reality, very little intelligence is applied to their day-to-day usage and many organisations are not maximising their investment in these applications. Report authors write simple queries to produce a set of records, and then export the data to Microsoft Excel, adding calculations and analysing the data in pivot tables. This time consuming procedure is then repeated every month. Does this sound familiar?
IBM Cognos 8 has a wealth of features to deliver the right information, to the right people, at the right time; making the process efficient and automatic. Often the best way of providing the information is in the form of dimensional reports or crosstabs. In dimensional reporting, key performance indicators or measures are categorised in many different ways (dimensions) creating intersections for analysis. It is an ideal format for discovering trends and analysing the factors that drive your business; enabling you to make critical corporate decisions.
